AGM 2024 - Paddleboarders

The Paddleboarders have had a full and exciting year, transitioning well into the new structure as a group and bonding well.

The first ever Paddlefest was held on 6th July 2024, it was deemed a great success. Thank you to Deb Hodgson and all involved for your hard work and dedication. much excitement now for an even bigger and if possible, better event next year.

The purchase of a Yoga Docking station and a portable pump was made via the paddleboarding team allocated budget and what a great addition this has been too. Many thanks to Sarah Garside for holding Yoga sessions on the water through the season at a nominal cost to members and helping to bring in much needed extra funding to the club.

Adaptive paddleboarding has been a major focus for some of the team, with grants being applied for to purchase adaptive equipment. Thanks to Nicky Bamford, Gemma Scire and Belinda Noda for exploring this avenue and doing the grant applications. A Paddleboard adaptive seat has been obtained and one of our disabled members has been able to enjoy getting out on the water with the help of willing volunteers.

Some of the team members have been on training days and equipment trials to establish the best course of action going forward in this area. Truly awesome stuff.

Instructor, first aid and rescue courses have also been organised, as well as group morning paddles with breakfast included.

Our dedicated SUP instructors have been busy taking new members and those wanting more guidance out and the two hours learn to SUP initiative has been a great success,

All resulting in the Paddleboard membership going from strength to strength.

Thank you to all who have given up their time to make all this happen. You are all inspiring and a great example to the club.

I look forward to seeing what you have in store for next year.
