WINTER PURSUIT SERIES: 27 Nov 2023

The four racers turning out for the inaugural Winter Pursuit Series were blessed with a gentle (albeit chilly) 6-9mph SW breeze. Racing started promptly at 10:30 on a long course which mostly tested boat speed over upwind tactics. Stuart Penny's (ILCA6) downwind speed kept him ahead of Phil Dickinson (ILCA7) for the first half of the race and allowed him to stay just in front of Carl Wood (ILCA7) throughout the dying seconds of the 45 minute race.

A wind shift brought a change of course for the second race, and racers faced a windier and more tactical challenge from 3 to Y. The slight increase in wind strength suited Steve Fletcher (Blaze) who at times looked like he was on course to take first place on the race course from Phil.
