Scaling Dam Sailing and Water Sports Club Boat Park News- Road Trailers (Mike Blades)

Happy New Year to all members

This year (The first under a new club name) the Asset Management Team have asked me organise a tidy up the boat park near the Nature Reserve fence where members have been unofficially leaving Road Trailers.

The club Bye-laws state that Road Trailers are not to be left on site unless they are in a designated boat park space. The road trailers must be clearly marked with the owners details and immobilised so that they cannot easily be removed by unauthorised visitors. Immobilisation can be achieved by removal of road wheels or fitting of wheel clamps.

During the Working Party weekends in February, the Asset Management Team intend to move all the road trailers at present parked at the Nature Reserve fence, so that we can cut the grass and hedges. When the ground is cleared, road trailers will be allowed to be re-parked close to the fence in an orderly fashion, as long as the club criteria mentioned above is followed. Trailers not complying will need to be taken home by members. Since the Asset Management Team will need to maintain the ground during the season trailers must not be chained to the fence.

Members can, if they wish, park their road trailers on their allocated boat parks along with launch trollies and boat, but they must still comply with the club bye-laws and not interfere with neighbouring boat parks.

The club has a set of metal punches that can be borrowed to permanently mark trailer ownership or as I will be doing to our trailer, used to make an aluminium label that will be pop rivetted to the trailer frame.

The Asset Management Team are aware that it is closed season, and it may not be easy for road trailer owners to get to the club to permanently mark their trailers, before the Working Party Weekends. So I have arranged a "temp labelling" solution. There is a supply of orange tree labels under the Main Viewing balcony which members can use to write on their names and attach to their trailers. If trailers with chains locked to the fence cannot be unlocked in time, members should contact me please so we can arrange to cut the chains to release the trailers.
