2024 Duty Rota arrangements, release and allocation timetable

Duty Rota
The 2024 season is almost upon us and we need to populate the duty rota in time for the start of the season. This year things are a little different because Ian Thomson has retired so the slot he covered will need to be covered by other means. We are currently seeking ways to fill that gap.
It will be quite different without Ian and we ask members to be understanding while the new arrangements are put in place.
This week the Duty Rota Team is releasing a message to all SDSWC members who are tagged as Safety Helms, Safety Crews, Race Officers and Race Assistants. A separate message will be sent to each duty type. If you feel you need to change your duty type please contact dutymanager@scalingdam.org
Safety Helms
Whilst we seek a way to fill the gap created by Ian's retirement for March we intend to cover Saturday and Sundays only with a single duty slot from 1030 to 1400 which will allow us to cover all watersport users as well as the scheduled racing. Clearly a slightly earlier start is required to be ready for the start of the first race at 1100. It is proposed to offer both the helm and crew positions to Safety Helms initially to allow them to refresh their skills. Nearer the time we will seek Safety Crews to fill any unfilled slots.
The rota will be opened to volunteering from Friday 2nd Feb. Any unfilled slots will be allocated after 9th Feb.
Safety Crews
It is proposed to offer the March helm and crew positions to Safety Helms initially to allow them to refresh their skills. Nearer the time we will seek Safety Crews to fill any unfilled slots.
The rota will be opened for Safety Crews to volunteer from Friday 9th Feb. Any unfilled slots will be allocated after 16th Feb.
Race Officers & Race Assistants
For March we intend to cover Sunday racing only with a single duty slot from 1030 to 1400 for the March Series races. In April we will move on to our usual timetable of race starts at 12:00, 13:30 and 15:00.
The rota will be opened for Race Officers and Assistants to volunteer from Friday 2nd Feb. Any unfilled slots will be allocated after 9th Feb.
