2024 AGM - Asset Management Report

Thanks to everyone who turned up for this year's working parties. Those that turned up undertook quite an array of jobs; replacing a toilet seat, fitting a toilet roll holder, replacing a leaking toilet system, making a new system cover, plane a sticking door, replace damaged hinges, new outside lock on the, clean and paint behind the bar, moving the white board in the training room, installing a new projector screen, remove all last year's notices from the boards, tidy up the toy area and plenty of filler used in preparation for painting; as well as many other tasks. We at Scaling need the support of our membership to keep the club at a standard that we all feel comfortable with. It would be lovely to pay someone to come a do all the jobs, however, this costs money and in order to keep our membership fees low we rely on your help.

I'd like to thank Mike Blades for all his work around the boat park, I'm sure you will have noticed him working hard to ensure that the club grounds are kept in good order. Mike has carried out many of the tasks with the help of some club members and we would like to thank everyone who has help.

I'd like to thank Mark Lewis who spends a considerable amount of time ensuring that our electrics are in order. Mark replaced our old hook up system in the camping area at the rear of the club house, which was greatly appreciated, along with trying to come up with any electrical changes we can do to save money.

Chris Keats-Hannan has pulled a group of individuals together to help carry out some of the tasks listed on the jobs list board. The group, called the "boat shed," they hope to tackle jobs around the clubhouse and general boat repairs. It is hoped that this group will continue to grow in the 2025 season. Thank you, Chris, for this inspired idea.

The asset management group and my basic role is to manage club house repairs and organise either professionals or members to carry out these tasks. We aim to carry these out in the working parties at the beginning of the year. The directors go through the club house and look at what needs doing at the beginning of each season, and have a wish list of what we would like to achieve. It has been noticed that over the last few years there has been considerable deterioration in the club house over the last few years. Many of the tasks that are carried out, purely touch the surface. One of the reasons for this is that there are plans to partially rebuild building. For this reason, it seems prudent to explore this development before investing monies to improve what we have. The club has still not yet been able to sign a new lease agreement with NWL, this being another reason for not investing. There is also the need to find out who's responsibility large repair's, such as the balcony area. We believe it's NWL responsibilities, we will, hopefully, find out.

I'd also like to apologies for my absence, it has been purely because of other commitments outside the club. I hope to be able to spend more time with you all next season. Mark, Mike and myself would also appreciate any offer to help the asset management team.
