Scaling Dam Course Booking & Cancellation Terms and Conditions

Terms for non-member course participants:

In enrolling on a course you receive a 21 day complimentary club membership of the category equivalent to your course (e.g.) Paddlesport or Full sailing. The terms of the temporary membership are given below.

Temporary Membership

Temporary Membership is open to any individual with an interest in Watersports to offer them the opportunity to see if they wish to join the club as a full member. It is offered on the following Temporary Membership Terms.

1. Scaling Dam Sailing Club welcomes prospective Club Members as Temporary Members.

2. This entitles the prospective member to use the Club Facilities on up to 4 (four) occasions for the activity the Temporary Membership is granted. (Sailing /Paddleboarding or Canoeing / Swimming *).

3. Temporary Membership is available to any individual only once and will expire after a maximum of four attendances or after 21 days.

4. The Temporary Member shall comply with the Club Constitution and Bye-laws which are available on the Club's website at https://members.scalingdam.org/the-club and shall comply with any reasonable instruction from a Committee Member.

5. After the expiry of their Temporary Membership the prospective member shall not be entitled to use the Club Facilities unless they join the Club as a full member.

Obligations for the Club and Course Participants

1. Scaling Dam Sailing & Watersports Club accepts its responsibility to make its courses as safe as is reasonably practicable. Adventurous activities are inherently hazardous and cannot be completely risk free.

2. Accidents can happen without any contributory negligence from the club or its staff. The club accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to personal property or for personal injury not arising as a result of its own act or default.

3. Course participants understand and accept that they have a responsibility to take careful note of instructions and to act in a way that will minimise the likelihood of injury to themself or others.

4. Course participants shall inform the Course organisers of any known medical pre-conditions and medication requirements below. The club is able to make reasonable adjustments to the delivery of courses where participants have any limitations.

5. Course participants should accept that watersports are a physical activity, and require a certain amount of fitness and flexibility.

Cancellation Terms for ALL course participants:

We may from time to time have to cancel a scheduled course for reasons beyond our control, most likely due to adverse weather. If this occurs we will endeavour to give as much notice as possible and give you the option of either (a) a full refund or (b) a rescheduled date.

If you need to cancel your course for any reason we would appreciate as much notice as possible to allow us to either stand down our instructors or resell your place on the course.

If you do cancel your course the following refund policy applies.

  • (a)If you cancel more than 7 days in advance of your course start date you will be offered a full refund or a rescheduled date.
  • (b)If you cancel between 7 days and 48 hours in advance of your course start date you will be refunded 50% of the full course fee.
  • (c)If you cancel within 48 hours of your coursed start date then no refund will be paid. Similarly failure to advise us of a cancellation (no show) will also result in no refund being paid.
Junior/Under 18s
The parent/guardian making a booking for any person under the age of 18 accepts these terms on their behalf.
