SUP - Stand-Up Paddleboarding
If you have ever been tempted to try it for yourself, we provide the perfect opportunity here at Scaling Dam Sailing Club. Come and join us on a two hour "Introduction to Paddle boarding" you can find out more information on our Paddleboard Training page. Paddling is easily accessible to all age groups. Come as a family, group of friends, or on your own and meet new friends! The Club have a range of new paddle boards for you to try, and wet suits and buoyancy aids are also provided.
If you find yourself hooked on paddle boarding after the session, we have a great Paddlers Group, sending messages on WhatsApp to arrange outings not only to Scaling, but also the Esk, Runswick Bay, Sandsend, Skinningrove and the Tees new members are always welcome.
As we build our teaching and coaching capacity this will allow us to introduce even more people to the sport we have such a passion for. At the same time we know we can all keep developing so that all paddlers are more able to stay safe, stay healthy and injury free, build skills & confidence, and most of all love Paddleboarding even more!
We've got a real opportunity to make use of all the Club has to offer, whether as a group we're planning informal paddles, race formats, socials, expeditions, skills development, discipline specialisms, or events (roll on Paddlefest 2024 )
Looking forward to paddling, fun and friendship in 2024!

Our next event: This is a members only event for paddleboarders, kayakers and canoeists. A chance to take part in a led trip around Scaling Dam in the gloom of dusk.
This is a led trip, it's not a lesson - all participants need to be self-sufficient in their craft, ie you can paddle & self rescue (with buddy assistance).
All paddlers must wear 'normal' style, foam filled buoyancy aids with shoulder straps. For example, people who normally paddle with an inflatable waist belt should borrow a club BA.
Fancy dress is optional. The spookier the better!
Club SUPs and kayaks will be available for the event, and will need to be booked beforehand - when booking your ticket, select the appropriate option to indicate whether you have your own kit, or wish to use a club SUP or Kayak. If no tickets remain for club SUPs/Kayaks, then they are fully booked.
Anyone under the age of 16 will need to be accompanied by a supervising adult on the water. Places need to be booked for all participants. Click here to book.
